| "The most talented and multi-faceted
entertainer/singer/songwriter to come along in 30 years. Not since working with
Faron Young, Roger Miller, Ray Price
have I seen such genius." Frank
Lowe (Producer, songwriter, performer) |
"Where isn't Morgan Englund these days?" asks
Soap Opera Digest. "The former Guiding Light star is on the slopes, on the WEB,
on TV and on a CD." This versatile performer from a theatrical family (parents;
Cloris Leachman and George Englund, grandmother; Mabel Albertson, uncle; Jack
Albertson) has an enduring career in theater, on television and now in the
music industry. His guest lead appearance with Pamela Anderson in "VIP," the
new hit series on Fox, follows his highly acclaimed performance as Bryan in the
theatrical production of "Change at Babylon" at the Tiffany theater in Los
Angeles. But the project he is most excited about is the anticipated release of
his new CD.
Recorded in Nashville at Masterlink studio, musical backing
including Pete Wade, Hargis "Pig" Robbins and Jimmy Capps, some of the talents
who helped create the "Nashville Sound," there was an atmosphere of excitement
and a groove in the recording that one seldom gets in the assembly line
sessions so often done today.
A gifted storyteller (he wrote all ten
songs for his upcoming CD) Morgan's career began in elementary school where he
used his talents to get out of trouble. Now, after spending several years
portraying Dylan Lewis on CBS's Guiding Light by day, weaving a small town of
characters on New York theater stages at night, and performing the standards in
clubs throughout both New York and Los Angeles, Morgan has finally decided it's
time he share his music with the world.
Morgan's love of story was
nurtured while attending the University of Colorado, Boulder where he majored
in English Literature and Drama.
His musical influences range from Don
Henley and the Eagles, The Allman Brothers
to Randy Travis, Trace Adkins,
Garth Brooks and Roger Miller
to William Shakespeare. His sound is raw,
heartfelt, from the soul. "I never realized country music was the vessel
through which I would ultimately be able to express myself. In country music
you find simplicity in the stories and lyrics that you don't find in Rock or
Pop. The stories are funny, sad, about grieving and loss
that's what I
write about. My songs are in the deepest parts of me. I want to reach in and
communicate what I have to others." He writes of the human condition, the
condition of the spirit and the mind. Some of his tales will break your heart
others will make you laugh out loud. Move you
linger with you long after
the music fades.
Now based in Los Angeles Morgan lives with his two
best friends, his children, Anabel and Jackson. |
